The Business, Environment, Communications and Transportation Institute (BECT) at South Carolina State University is located in Orangeburg, SC. The Institute is designed to support the University in building and sustaining a program to foster synergy and educational opportunities that meets the needs of faculty, students and the community in the areas of business, environmental science, communications and transportation sectors. The goals of the Institute include the following:

• Create opportunities for faculty and students to engage in innovative research and professional activities in business, environmental science, communications, and transportation.
• Develop strategic partnerships with entities and industry leaders in business, environmental science, communication, and transportation.
• Engage in research opportunities to expand knowledge and understanding of the latest trends in the targeted areas.
• Offer programs and services to assist individuals to understand and protect the environment.
• Develop the next generation of transportation and supply chain leaders.
