State Senator John L. Scott, Jr., Institute of Network Information, Technology and Security (NITS) is located at Morris College in Sumter, SC. The program is designed to increase opportunities related to fields and careers focused on Network Information Technology and Network Security. The specific goals of the Institute are as follows:

• Prepare students to be cybersecurity professionals capable of responding to the rapidly growing cyber threats and meeting industry challenges and concrete goals.
• Engage in applied research to innovate solutions that act as force multipliers for today’s resource-constrained security teams.
• Increase the number of business and industries collaborating with Morris College around the issues of cybersecurity.
• Lay the foundation for a minor in cybersecurity.
• Provide financial as well as hands-on support for students majoring in disciplines that compliment the Institute’s programs and services.
